The Boradmoor in Colorado Springs

Don't want to make too many of you jealous but Brent and I are spending a few relaxing days at the Broadmoor resort. It is a work related trip for Brent, a meeting in the morning, golf and a fabulous dinner afterwards. I spent the day at the pool reading a book and then walking around the beautiful grounds. Not one kid came up to me to tattle tale on their sibbling or cry cause something wasn't fair. I loved every minute of the day. Sad that I don't even miss my kids, i'm a weird mom, or a mom who has had enough. I guess they don't really miss me either, they about pushed me out the door cause karen, our Nanny this summer, is their favorite person. I love her too and don't want her to leave me alone with the kids!!!! Anyway, love it here and wish all you who would be willing to leave you kids behind could join us. ( hopefully you know that i truely love and adore my kids, just that they can get on my nerves at times and breaks are good and healthy).

Summer 2008 report so far...

OK, it has been a crazy summer so far so i think I will list the highlights in as little words as possible to keep from boring those who wish to read and my future posterity who will someday read this.

1. The boys both played in big out of state baseball tournaments. Peyten is Florida and Austen in Cooperstown NY, where the baseball hall of fame is. They had a blast.

2. Regular golf tournaments for the summer are over but both boys got invited to the city championship, which is the 11 and 12th of august.

3. Lauren and i went to girls camp together, very hot but fun.

4. Lauren got to go to a volleyball camp at A&M for 4 nights and days. She loved it.

5. Austen turned 12 and gets the Priesthood tomorrow during church.

6. Went to Utah for a fun visit and a family reunion on the Christiansen side.

7. Ashlen is learning to talk more, the kids love teaching her new words. They taught her how to say, "Ow Charlie, you bit me". (If you don't get this then go to Utube and type in charlie bit me and you'll see what is so funny)

8. Lauren and I are going to Oregon for 10 days in August for my 20 year class reunion. We are going to go up to Seattle for a few days and I am going to take her to the beach and all the cool places I went as a kids growing up.

9. Brent and i are going to the Broadmore hotel in colorado for a few days this next week. We are looking forward to some alone time and need it after a busy summer.

10. I do not want school to start, hate school, love my kids home with me.

11. Boys both started football practice this morning, it will be four days a week for the next five weeks until the first game. A little much, but this is Texas ya'll!!!!

Six random things about me

This is from Missy Stowells blog, thought her answers were great so thought I would list some of mine. Would like to see my sister and anyone else do this on their blog, it's fun to read. Just list six random things about yourself, here goes mine....

1. I am scared to death of the dentist, I feel like I can't breathe.

2. I love scary movies, use to hate them, but now love them thanks to my old neighbor Kathy Beck. We would watch scary movies at her house after the kids went to bed. Once her husband scared us by banging on the window outside where we were watching. My heart was racing so fast but i loved it!!!!

3. I love roller coasters, the scarier the better. Finally lauren will go on them with me, my boys are all wimps including Brent.

4. I love anything with blackberries. My favorite food ever is blackberry pie with real whip cream.

5. I am a naturally lazy person and it has always bugged me but i can't change. I try, but I can't help it. I am more motivated to do things at night rather than in the morning.

6. I hate to shop, maybe the only girl ever in the world who does. The mall makes me crazy, it's like going to Chuck e cheeses and I really hate that place. If my kids would ever get invited to birthday parties to places like that I wouldn't tell them about it. We lost a few friends that way but I figure if they are dumb enough to have a bday party there than it's best we went our separate ways.
